Description

McConnell & Associates secured this public bid project for the City of North Kansas City as the low-bid contractor, demonstrating our ability to provide exceptional value without compromising on the rigorous standards required for public works.

The primary objective of this project was to revitalize the local infrastructure by significantly improving ADA-compliant walk paths and establishing safe, accessible parking along 10th Avenue. This transformation required a detailed approach to ensure the concrete walkways met accessibility guidelines to enhance pedestrian safety.

The centerpiece of this project was the installation of a 14-foot deep concrete drain inlet box tied into an existing Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP). Additionally, this project involved concrete and pavement removal, concrete installation, asphalt installation, and pavement marking installation. Executing a project of this scale beginning in late December presented significant environmental hurdles. Our team navigated the harsh Missouri winter, overcoming the challenges of sub-freezing temperatures and volatile weather conditions.

The result is an enhanced storm drain infrastructure system, new street-side parking, and ADA-compliant walkways, along with a revitalized roadway that will serve the City of North Kansas City for decades to come.
