McConnell & Associates was selected by Platte County High School through a public-bid Request For Proposal (RFP) to reconstruct its 20+ year-old running track and resurface the school’s existing 8-court tennis complex on a tight timeline. A scoring matrix was used within the RFP to determine the most qualified contractor for the job. Upon being awarded the contract, our team coordinated closely with school personnel to work around campus events, ensuring no disruptions to their schedules.
Despite a challenging 58-working-day timeline, we successfully completed a comprehensive scope of work. This included milling the existing asphalt track, replacing concrete curbs, removing and replacing the outer 10 feet of the synthetic turf field base rock, and stabilizing the sub-grade with Portland cement. We then expertly paved the asphalt using advanced grade control, constructed new concrete long jump runways and sand pits, and installed a new running track base mat surface with a water-based structural spray. To further enhance the track, we added colored exchange zones and precise line and event markings. Concurrently, we revitalized the existing tennis courts, delivering modern, high-performance athletic facilities for the school and community.
